We got there around 8:30 or something… to chill, while waiting for Pupil to go on. Gensan’s Hail’s Stone band were already on stage, one song from the group really caught everyone’s attention, they sang the theme song of this old, children’s show from the 90’s, Batibot! It took us waaaay back, it made me feel really old.
In celebration of the
16th Kalilangan Festival
73rd Foundation Anniversary of General Santos City
at East Asia Royale Hotel
A few beers and laughs later, the foam started flowing, but no one had enough balls to rush into the foam…just yet, everyone was still busy gulping copious quantities of alcohol into their system, to prep up for the foamy dance floor.
Tables = Packed
When the Check it Out band started to play, their own versions of some of today’s pop songs, small groups of foam party goers started to take the floor. If Coachella is to grass, Glastonbury is to mud, and GenSan is to foam. We like to kick it on slippery, bubbly, foam that smells divine and doesn’t-reak-of-stinky-underarm-sweat.
Awesome ACDC shirt is awesome.
The kiddos are having a blast as well!
Shobe and Dianne didn’t wanna dance so I went to the dance floor alone, for a few, to take photos of le wild Generals killing the dance floor. I did it in an almost, creepy-stalker-ish way. Hahaha!!!
Later on, the DJ started the countdown, when the clock struck 12, le wild fireworks display appeared.
I just knew everyone would have their derp faces on while staring blankly at the display of exploding pyrotechnic devices at the sky (Thanks Capt. Obvious), so I decided to take this photo…
Wulo lang na tutuwa lang ako! Hahaha!!! Peace you guys! You all look fabulous still!!
After the fireworks display, Pupil slowly started to take on the stage, getting their instruments ready, upon seeing them prepping up, we abandoned our table and went strait to the foamy mosh pit. Finally.
And so did a lot of people, dhoi… O_o
So they asked for a photo, well here you go. 😀
Pupil’s set list included Disconnection Notice, Obese, 20/20, Pusakal, and Nasaan Ka. They were rocking it out like its 2012, oh wait, it is 2012…dan…dan…dan..daaaaaaaan.
Shobe *hearts* Ely very very mats.
Cuz of that, and my undying love for her, I took le wild swan dive into the foam, just to get her a poster, against ze wild crowd. It looked as if it was just a reflex, I just did it, never had a second to think about it, I just dove right in. After having acquired the poster, I just realized that I had my camera on my other hand, its now drenched in foam, I also got a scratch on my left knee. But seeing how happy it made Shobe-san, then I said to myself…
Le wild poster at the right. It got a bit torn-out due to the fact that it was thrown into a sea of foam. But that’s the point, said Shobe on her tweet which included the photo of ze poster.
What I wore: Grey Shirt, Cotton on | High waist black faded denim shorts thrifted |Grey badazzled Fitflops.
So I heard you like rainbows?
Check out Ely’s iPhone, strapped on his leg.
They said we Genral’s are awesome!!! And they played more songs than they originally planned.
Doesn’t that just kick ass?
As expected and anticipated they played a few Eraserhead’s hits, Pare Ko, Alapaap, and Super Proxy. They performed Princesa by Teeth as well, wherein I almost lost my mind.
Ybrael Rak n Roll’n Hahaha
And that’s Pupil to ya earthlings.
On this photo, I asked Ely if we could have a photo with him, he pointed at the back of the stage, which is also the hotel’s lobby. We skadoodled to the lobby faster than you can say skemafraaak.
[The following photos are from Ybrael]
Us girls with Dok and Yan
After these were taken, we stood at the lobby’s driveway, hoping to see Ely, a few minutes later, Ely and Wendell emerged from the wild elevator, and whoooosh we rushed in.
The door man wont allow us in at first, I told him its unfair because there are some fangirls that were already inside, still he humbly pushed us away. Luckily Wendell was near the door and told the doorman to let us in, weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee *blush*
Wasn’t able to have a photo with him, cuz Ely was in a hurry to get inside the resto, just told Ybrael, Shobe and Dianne to go right ahead to Ely. Instead of a photo Wendell and I had a small chit-chat, I told him that I took drum lessons way back and highschool, he asked me if I still play now, I told him I don’t own a set, but I’m planning to buy one soon, but for now I’m focusing on my studies. (No way?) Yes waaaaaaaaaaaay.
Just when we thought the night was over, we lounged our tired moist asses on the lobby, gathering enough strength to let the moment sink in before we leave. When we finally decided to GTFO of the hotel, and we almost did, wherein we’re positioned at the door, looking back to the band as they we’re chilling on the resto, suddenly, Ely looked at us, and we waved goodbye at him like a bunch of hyperactive loons, then he signaled us to come in, OMGGGGGG…. We went into the resto faster than you can get to the next paragraph.
We were starstruck still, I wasn’t able to talk properly, all I did was smile and laugh. They kept on going on and on about Ybrael’s camera, Yan told us that he once did a music video for Spongecola using a DSLR. Just plain awe–wait for it—some.
[Shobe, Me, Ybrael, Wendell, Yan, Ely, Dok and their Manager]
I couldn’t even imagine a more perfect scenario than THIS one right here. I never expected THIS to happen, everything is better talaga if you just let things unfold on their own, more spontaneous, and random. But when you see an opportunity that you could make something happen, DO IT, fate needs you to cooperate too.
All in all,
EPIC night is EPIC.
The English language lacks the requisite words to express
how much fun we had that night,
only this would do…
Awesome face + Iron Man
